New legislation introduced in 2006 sees The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) introducing “The Vetting and Barring Scheme” in July 2010. Online CRB Checks and Registration
How long will an online CRB check take?
Because we are one of the very few umbrella organisations to have been granted to CRB’s “e-bulk” system we are able to provide CRB check in around 5 days.
There are three different types of CRB check, so you need to know which one you need before you order. Usually, your company will have a policy which will set out which staff need which level of online CRB check.
Basic disclosures can be ordered online. You can register for standard and enhanced CRB checks online and provide us with all relevant information. We will then contact you to complete the application.
A Basic level disclosure will detail all criminal information considered non-spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 or state that there are no such convictions.
Details of every conviction (including spent convictions), caution, warning and reprimand which is recorded in central records.

As well as CRB checks for individuals, we provide a range of other screening services: employment referencing, tenant referencing and DVLA reports. Employment referencing is useful to double check that a CV is an accurate reflection of the truth. Tenant references give landlords piece of mind that tenants are going to be reliable and DVLA reports are used to verify any past convictions.
In addition to CRB checks, employment referencing, tenant referencing and DVLA checks, CBS also carries out consultancy work to organisations that want to set up in-house CRB checking facilities or those that want to be better informed about the implications of the Vetting & Barring Scheme.

Vetting & Barring Scheme
From July 2010 the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) will be running the Vetting & Barring Scheme. The new system will ensure that all individuals who have regular contact with vulnerable groups are registered. This will be in excess of 11 million people in the UK.
Any appropriate individual failing to register will be liable for a fine of up to £5000. This will come into effect from July 2010.
